As organizations increasingly transition to virtual teams, leaders are responsible for ensuring equitable and inclusive practices and behaviors among the team. Unconscious bias and micro-expressions are present even in our virtual interactions, and can erode morale and productivity if they go unaddressed.

Maria has been on the CLD faculty since 2016, providing training and coaching to senior executives in the federal government and facilitating programs on diversity, equity, and inclusion, intercultural competence, innovation and change, and conflict management.

In her sixteen-year career, Maria has worked with such diverse clients as theWorld Bank, U.S. Department of State, US Agency for International Development, Department of the Navy, Office of Director of National Intelligence, National Security Agency, National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Association of Women Geoscientists, Library of Congress, U.S. Postal Service, Transurban Development, and Delta Airlines. She has worked with leaders around the world, including India, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Mexico, Thailand, Colombia, and Tunisia.
