Overview
Employee pay setting has an incredibly powerful impact on federal workers. Done well, it can motivate people to do their best work and lead to increased talent recruitment and retention. Done poorly, it can lead to payment errors and employee dissatisfaction.
As a Human Resources (HR) Specialist, pay setting is one of the most important functions you manage. Because of your unique role, you have a tremendous influence on its effective execution. Accurate pay setting requires complying with complex laws and regulations. It also requires an understanding of local conditions that affect recruiting and retaining qualified employees.
This course is designed to enhance your ability to support your agency’s workforce. You’ll gain an overview of pay setting for Federal Wage System (FWS) and General Schedule (GS) positions. Using that knowledge, you’ll then apply administrative pay rules related to different scenarios, including the use of new and revised wage schedules and special rates. Lastly, you’ll engage with a HR pay-setting expert during a 90-minute live question and answer (Q&A) session.
Schedule:
This training consists of 2 main components: 4 self-paced web-based learning modules (approx 6 hrs of training); and a virtual instructor-led Q&A session (90 minutes). The web-based learning modules must be completed prior to the virtual instructor-led (VIL) session.
