Senior Executive Service (SES) Orientation Briefings

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), through its Federal Executive Institute (FEI), and in conjunction with the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, conducts government-wide SES Orientation Briefings for the benefit of new members of the career Senior Executive Service (SES) and SES equivalents in all Federal agencies.

As the keystone of the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978, the Senior Executive Service was established to " ... ensure that the executive management of the Government of the United States is responsive to the needs, policies, and goals of the Nation and otherwise is of the highest quality." SES Orientation Briefings are unique opportunities to share strategies to realize these aims and to acclimate to and accelerate effectiveness in the SES enterprise leadership role and environment. The SES Briefings are part of FEI's SES Leading EDGE senior executive development portfolio; OPM's government-wide Executive Onboarding Framework and Enhanced Executive Onboarding Model; and OPM's Framework for the Continuing Development of Federal Senior Executive.

Government-wide SES Orientation Briefings are conducted twice a calendar year (typically one in the Spring and the second in the Fall). To be notified when registration opens, please send a request to SES-Orientation-Briefing@opm.gov.
