Overview
Today’s federal executive lives in a world of constant change, requiring proactive and strategic leadership skills for success. As a high-performing leader, it’s likely you will play a role implementing change within your organization, if you haven’t already. Change often impacts more than just the employees within the organization – but how do you identify those other stakeholders and prepare for change with them in mind? If you’re facing this question, this course is the next step in your development as an executive. You’ll learn tools for mastering change management, as well as practices to think and act strategically. Learning alongside your peers in a group project, you’ll practice collaborating across boundaries, review ways to manage stakeholders, and better understand how elements of the Executive Branch can influence governmental change.

How You Will Benefit
Through collaborative learning and practical application, you’ll up your political savvy, interpersonal and communication skills, and external awareness by:
  • Identifying and plan for internal and external politics that impact vision, mission, and organization, which will enhance your ability to interact positively with constituencies.
  • Gaining a better understanding of Congressional and Presidential roles and powers in relation to change within government.
  • Applying concepts of innovation to think and act more strategically and collaboratively.
  • Engaging in a group project that emphasizes work teams as well as critical aspects of strategic thinking, strategic planning, stakeholder management, and political research.
  • Becoming more self-aware and better manage work relationships by exercising emotional intelligence skills.
